Christmas Rebellion
Christmas Rebellion (Montenegrin: Божићна побуна, Božićna pobuna or Божићни Устанак, Božićni Ustanak) was a conflict between rebel guerrilla groups Zelenaši Montenegrins against the Serb occupation and annexation of the Serbian armed forces. Uprising took place in Montenegro 7th January 1919, the day of Orthodox Christmas, shortly after the end of the First World War.

Reasons
The cause of the outbreak of the Christmas Rebellion was disagreement with the resolution of the Montenegrins Podgorička skupšiny, which decided to merge with the Kingdom of Montenegro Kingdom of Serbia’s. Members of the Union (in favor of merging with Serbia) had a strong predominance during the uprising.

Title Christmas Rebellion was derived from the date of the outbreak – the Orthodox Christmas on 7 ledna 1919th Unionists with the support of the Serbian army defeated the members of the royal Zelenaši near the Montenegrin capital of Cetinje. During the conflict have been killed and several Montenegrin families and homes, as well as some of the separatists were thrown into prison. Supporters of the rebellion fled to Italy or to the mountains, where he participated in the guerrilla war under the auspices of the Montenegrin government in exile.

Leader of the rebellion was General Krsto Elevators Popović, along with the political leader Jovan S. flamingos. After the uprising was the culmination of the Montenegrin throne, deposed King Nikola I Petrovic-Njegoš, which was forced with the rest of the Montenegrin royal family into exile. Jovan flamingos was forced to declare peace, but several rebel groups continued protestanských events until 1929, mainly Savo Raspopović.
